Geriatric Psychiatrist / Medical Director Position in New England!
Hospital Employed: New Senior Behavioral Health Unit in hospital – open August 2021. 15–20 hours/week (treatment team, psych evaluations, treatment plans, policies, etc.).
Tele Psychiatry Model – could look at the hybrid model depending on the location of a psychiatrist (tele and in-house). A 10-bed unit – program will be offered in partnership with the Health Behavioral Health Services, an organization that focuses on hospital-based behavioral health. Inpatient geriatric psychiatry program will treat older adults who have mental health conditions like depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder – short-term stays of 10 to 14 days – advance practice nurse in psychiatry will be in the unit for day-to-day handling of patients.
Compensation: Financially Sound Hospital System. To be discussed further with VP after first initial phone meeting with myself. Hospital currently in $35M renovation project to include: OR/SDS/OB/Diagnostic Imaging/New Senior Behavioral Health Unit.
Facility: The Hospital is a nonprofit, Joint Commission-accredited, acute care facility characterized by its family-centered care, community involvement and progressive ideas in health care. The hospital serves the community and the seven surrounding counties.
The hospital emergency department is staffed 24/7 by hospital-employed physicians and is designated as a Level III Trauma Center. Additional highlights of our state-of-the-art facility include advanced diagnostic imaging services like a wide bore MRI and a 64-slice CT scanner. We also have strong, in-house hospitalist programs and excellent nursing staff. Our medical staff value clinical quality, patient satisfaction and collegiality.
Community: Our community is in the heart of the Midwest. It sits at the confluence of the Loup and Platte Rivers. The area offers a fair tax structure, outstanding public and private schools and a variety of recreation and entertainment options. It has clean air, safe neighborhoods, no traffic jams and plenty of sunshine. Only 70 miles away from Nebraska’s largest communities, Omaha and Lincoln, which means the benefits of big-city entertainment, major airports and a key Big Ten Conference University (University of Nebraska-Lincoln), are just a short drive away.
